TEACHERS FORGOTTEN.
ONLY ONE M.P. ARRIVES. SOME WAITED FOR SUPPER. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. One hundred members of the Wellington branch of the New Zealand Educational Institute attended last night a meeting at which they hoped to place before the local members of Parliament their views on divers matters, but the meeting was a minor tragedy. No members of Parliament turned up, and only one apology was forwarded, that of Mr. R. McKeen. After many telephone calls had been made, it was ascertained that Mr. P. Fraser was at a meeting at the Trades Hall, Mr. T. Forsyth was at the Technical College, and had frankly forgotten the teachers' meeting. Sir John Luke was not at home, and the Minister of Education —well, they did not know where he was. Eventually the meeting was called off, though some waited for a special supper which had been prepared. It is intended, when the institute can be sure of members' presence, to arrange the programme all over again.
