SILK STOCKINGS.
IN COURT CASE. CLAIM AND COUNTER-CLAIM. FURTHER EVIDENCE. The litigation centring around the quality of a number of silk stockings, which was commenced in the Magistrate's Court last Thursday, was continued this afternoon. J. S. Morton, of Auckland, trading as Larnock and Company (Mr. Singer and Mr. Schramm) sued Mr. and Mrs. Fred. Ball, trading as the Glowworm Hosiery Company 'Mr. L. P. Leary> for £25 3, 6 for goods sold and delivered. Defendants counterclaimed for £13-1 li b. Mr. F. K. Hunt. S'M.. was on the bench. The rather sombre interior of the Court was brightened by the presence of a bevy of beauties who occupied a position so that their legs from ankle to knee, covered in silk stockings, were in full view of Mr. Hunt. stockings were undergoing the ladder test, which followed on the hearing of the case last week. Mr. Si nger said he had four human exhibits. He questioned the young ladies, who stated they had worn the stockings yesterday afternoon and this morning. No defects had appeared in the stockings. Mr. Leary contended that it was not a fair test. No su?pender= were used. Garters were u=ed and t'n»- -to>-kin-j» were carefully rolled so that no strain was put on them. A lady who witne-.-eJ the ; ii;tiu_- ..n of the stockings for the test said they were very carefully rolled on, "a manner in which I never put on my stockings," said the witness. Mr. Hun: entered judgment for the plaintiff cm the ciaim by consent. With regards the counter-claim the magistrate said he was unsatisfied with Morton's evidence. The stockings sold to Mrs. Ball were not what they had been represented. Judgment v. a- given the defendants on the counter-claim for :ae full amount.
