ONTARIO PROTESTS.
AUSTRALIAN TREATY HARMFUL (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) .. (Received 10 a.m.) VANCOUVER, July 23. Introducing Mr. R. B. Bennett, Federal Tory leader, at a picnic the Ontario Minister of Agriculture, Mr. J. S. Martin. criticised the Australian treaty. He said it worked a grave injustice to the people of Canada. Saskatchewan had played a prominent part in the protests against the treaty, so it could no longer he said that the tariff issue was forced on the country by the people of the East. Mr. Bennett pleaded for the adequate protection of Canadian industries and clpplorerl the exodus of population to the United States.
