ONLOOKER'S VIEWPOINT.
ENGLISH TEAM AT TAUPIRI. "M" writes: I read with dismay in last night's "Auckland Star" that the English League footballers were opening the New Zealand season in Taupiri. For a combination that has beaten Australia's best I think it nothing short of a disgrace to aßk them to play at such a tinpot township. I think the Auckland League Council should use a bit of commonsense. not send an international team to open its New Zealand tour where they would not send their first League team. As an Englishman I am really ashamed to think such a team is being asked to play at Taupiri. Goodness knows what they will think when they arrive there; have the shock of their lives, no doubt. Why they are being sent there is heyond my comprehension.
