TOBACCO CULTURE.
ASSOCIATION FORKED. 0 AHEA TO BE PLANTED. COMMUNITY SYSTEM OF CUBING. Settlers in the vicinity of Te Alatu met in the district liall on Sattrrdav evening to discuss tobacco culture with Mr. Lowe (Government. tobacco instructor). Mr. D. D. Gil! pre.-ided. Subsequent to an address by Mr. Lowe it was decided to form a Te Atatu Tobacco Culture Association and to register tinder tre Industrial and Provident Societies Act. It was decided to make arrangements with nurserymen in the district to grow tobacco plants on the association's behalf and to cultivate up to 20 acres of land to start with. It was decided, in the event of the tobacco being suitable, to erect a community kiln fur curing purposes. Regarding the matter of the crop's disposal, it is the intention of the Te Atatu Association to leave this phase of the business entirely in the hands of the executive, the idea being to produce a stable line of tobacco of uniform grade.
