The secretary of the Fairfield Drain- ' ace Board, writing :n regard to the basis of rating said hLs board understood that the only safe course now was ii>r the boards, after classification, to have a plan made by the classifier, showing i where tne Ciass:tied areas are situated on j plans and classifications lent to the j Valuation Department, and tor them 1 to allot values. His board wished to know the ideas of the Waitoa Board.— The board was of the opinion that it was: a matter ior leual opinion. j INlr. I. R. -Tohnsoti; I reported on the work for the month:— Polar's drain was not yer complete.- The Toturakura improvement work had been inspected and it was arranged for nine chains to be done, reaching to the road bridge, at a cost of i' 9. Further levels have now been taken tor a nirthcv distance. reaching t'> the lower end of Rushton's woi !<. a distance ef 10.5 chains, and plans are under way. When iinifhcd arrangements will be made to extend the work to that point.—The report was adopted.
