IN FISHLAND.
Mrs. A. Flounder Fish sat on a glistening shell, manicuring her fine, and looked through dull and listless «yo« at her daughter, Flounderia, who was ahining heT scales with a polish guaranteed to remove all tarnish. "Flounderia Fish," she announced firmly, "you are going to marry Albert Cod. You know perfectly well that we are to announce your engagement tonight." "I refuse to marry him," wept that abused one. "All he talks of ie the number of times he avoids being caught by those silly hooka with worms attached. 1 could no more sit opposite 4im three times a day than walk!" "Well, there is no use arguing," answered her mother, "you are to appear to-night, and you will bo married next month." She sailed out of the room, looking over her shoulder to tee if her tail floated properly. As soon as her mother had disappeared Flounderia slipped through an archway of ferne to her own room, where she packed her scale polish, manicure set and toothbrush in a pearl-lined shell, snapped it shut and swam through a window. Outside she found her secret lover, Gilbert Cunner who greeted her with joy, and they hastened to the parsonage where an old and learned minister married them. / Meanwhile a heart-broken mother and father tried to think of excuses for her absence, and were just planning a note to send to Sir Cod, when a minnow shot through a drapery of sea grace, to announce that three minutee before he had witnessed with liis own eyes thy catching by hook of Mr. Albert Cod.
