CORNER FOR BUSY BEES.
A DESK BLOTTER. VERY USEFUL PRESENT. (Conducted by TINKER BELL.) Dear Girls,—— Ewr heard of Patpartout ? I'm sure you all hare. Well, this week I am going to tell yon how to put this useful tape to yet another use. In short, I am going to describe the making of a simple blotting pad, which, to the business girl, will be an everlasting friend, and will be equally as serviceable at home to keep ink stains from the dining room table, or the writing desk. If father happens to work in an office it will prove a most acceptable gift for him. Obtain an oblong of cardboard about 20 J in. long by 13in. wide, and carefully cover it with some plain though dainty material. The sides are now bound with" paspartout. Now take a full sheet of blotting paper (this is 22£ in * 17Jin), and fold it in half so as to obtain a doubled sheet 17 Jin. long by ll£in. wide. Arrange this in the centre of your base board. You will find that it will come l}in from
each, end and a little under an inch from each side. Having placed the blotting, paper in position, stick four pieces of paspartout each across the corners, gamming down only the ends, thus enabling new sheets of blotting P*P* r to be inserted when the old one has become too inky. The accompanying sketch will show exactly what is meant, and no can be made. The shade of material nsed, of course, should be of a dull colour, a dark green being perhaps the best for the purpose. This article is not expensive to make, and adds greatly to the comfort of wrftiag, keeping either desk or table spick and span, and collecting drops of ink that will persist in flying off even the most expensive pent. James: Yes, sir, I've been out of work a long time, bat I managed to get a bit of a job last Sunday and earned five bob. Parson: What, James, yon broke the Sabbath ? James: "Well, sir, one of us liad to be broke.
