CHURCH LADIES' "DRIVE." BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY. (By Telecraph—own Correspondent.) WAIHI, this day. Following the example of the Auckland commercial travellers, a big "drive" for clothing, etc., with which to help people in distress, has been organised by the ladies of St. John's Church, who are forming a Dorcas Society. The delivery vans of local stores will lead the "drive" next week. At the annual meeting of the Beautifying Society the following officers were elected: President, Mr. W. J. Thomson; committee, Messrs. J. C. Holt, P. Learmontli. E. McLay, W. Ellerington, L. Roberts, J. Moorhead and E. Thompson; secretary, Mr. J. M. Wrigley. Proposals for the improvement of the slope of Martha Hill, facing the town, and the construction of a wall around the ladies' rest room, using rock trom the mine, were considered.
