BOBBY CALVES.
ONE COMPANY TO OPERATE. IMPORTANT PROVINCIAL AGREEMENT. (Bv Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. Following protracted negotiations between representatives of the National Dairy Association and an executive of dairy companies in South Auckland, an agree.ment has been come to between the Wnikato and Thames Valley Cooperative Calf By-products Company, and the executive on behalf of the companies they represent, whereby the Byproducts Company will receive, the support of these companies in its operations during the forthcoming season. After a thorough investigation of the business it was considered by the conference that no good purpose could be served by two separate companies operating over the same territory. The By-products Company has agreed to pay th» highest, economic spot cash price for calves at the farmers' gate during the year, and to carry out all obligations detailed in the agreement drawn up. The By-products Company has givenan undertaking in writing to, "provide adequate service in all districts of South Auckland as far north as Paparoa. The executive of the dairy companies have promised to do all in their power to ensure that the proper class of veal calf is provided by the farmers. It mav he stated that the regulations are much more stringent this year, and it is imperative that none but strong calves should be forwarded to the freezing works. Great credit is paid to Mr. F. H. Anderson, chairman of directors of the Cambridge Co-operative Dairy Company and a member of the national executive, who presided, and also to the executive for the capable manner in which the conference, which lasted four days, was brought to so satisfactory a termination. Tt i-« considered that the elimination of competition will bring about the main purpose desired, namely, the fullest benefit to the farmer for h : = product.
