WAIKATO NOTES.
A very jolly dinner was held at the conclusion of the golf natch married ladies versus single ladies. Those present were: Mesdames K. G. Guv, H. C. Ross. Les. Day, C. Sutcliffe, C. itartlett, Cole, A. Wliitehouse, P. G. Russell, W. Horton, Misses M. Ross, M. Wilkinson, V. Cann. Dawson, D. Johnson, M. McKenzie, M. Campbell, M. Hodgson, and E. Madeley. On Saturday afternoon the members of the Claudelands Croquet Club were entertained at the homo of Mrs. W. I raser. The guest of honour was Mrs. J. Matthews, who is leaving the district to reside in Auckland. During the afternoon she was presented with a present from her club mates. Those present were: Mesdames J. Matthews, R. Baker, F. Baglev, C. Speight, M. C. Gudex. W. Howe, E. H. Curling, Savers, R. Hargreaves, Clevelev, Blacklock, J. R. Fow. Scott, Ross, R. Coombes, Lainprill, R. Baillie, and Miss Jones. Ihe Claudelands Hall was the scene of a gay little dance, which took place on 1 uesdav, organised by the young people's club. Those present were: Mesdames A. Oliver, G. \Y. Matthews, Towers, E. Haynes, Pennicott, Buchanan, Misses J. Manning, E. Snell, M. Jones, N. McGill, K. Keelev, T. Haynes, P. Mever, X. Watt, Stacey, M. Oliver, C. Buck'land, T. McKinnon, X. Roid, Culley, M. Radford, Hodgson. B. Bourke, Lewis, F. Magnall, E. Leslie, P. Lightbourne, Beagley, D. Cornish, Woulfe. F. Bremner, Tebbutt, M. Mercer, Laurenson, Mcßae, Crawford, M. Lloyd, Chesterfield, R. Carter, Osborne, Waite, and F. Snell. A jolly bridge afternoon was given at Monavale on Thursday by Mrs. J. Clemow. The rooms were bright with | pale pink camellias. The guests were: Mesdames G. G. Taylor, A. R. Cox, W. Armstrong, W. Home, Garland, A. Nelson, Souter, J. Fisher, Robinson, S. Kggleston, Misses Armstrong, McCarroll, T. Garland, Yeale, Jackson, E. Robinson, M. Garland, V. Nelson, and D. Garland. The Community Circle met at the Lyceum Club on Monday night. Miss 3#arv Lovel, of Rototuna, gave a delightful reading on Greek plays. Those present were: Mesdames J. W. Warren, A. W right, C. Newell, A. F. Speedy, D. Andrews, J. Graham, R. oJhnson, Misses E. Norrish. E. Wright, E. Scherer, I. Andrews, M. Stevens, Hooker, and M. Scherer. On Tuesday afternoon Mrs. H. H. Sterling, of River Road, Claudelands, entertained a number of her friends. Mrs. Sterling wore a pretty black satin frock. The guests played bridge, and others took part in the competitions, which were most amusing. Those present were: Mesdames A. E. Bouillion, R. H. Boyd, X. Hooker, E. J. Mears, T. A. Burtenshaw, F. C. House, G. Thomson, H. C. Ross, H. J. Baker, Rogers, G. Valdcr, A. P. Speedy, W. J. King, A. W. Ward. Misses Xicolls, G. Robv, X. Scherer, and E. Scherer.
