THE CHURCH AND WAR.
Xn your issue of July 11 the Rev. W. Lawson Marsh affirms that to rule out war from our present mode of life would be to establish a new standard for Christians to live up to. How, may I ask, is it possible for Mr. Marsh to even suggest that "the standard is new"? The standard was only new to the world when Christ abrogated the Mosaic Law, "But I say unto you, love your enemies. . If a man strike you on one cheek, turn the other also." Although the standard set by Christ is far higher than that feet by the Presbyterian Church, I trust that church will make a successful attempt in following the "Messenger of Peace." WM. BRADY.
