the course of an address given in London, on the scientific use of coal, Mr. rrank Hodges said:—"The scientists are giving new value to coal. Even if we must use sixty million tons of coal per annum for the purpose of oil and gas recovery using the residual fuel in pulverised form for 6team raising or in othei forme for industrial process work or the domestic grate, we automatically increase the amount of raw coal produced by twenty million tons to make good the lose in weight of the oil, gas, and moisture taken off in the recovery processes. Is there any conceivable market in the world that we can foresee at any time during the next fifty yeans which offers any such poanfci&or m this,"
