Fine kicking by L. Hook had Manukau in trouble in the first few minutes and compelled the blacks to force. For a. time play was even, but it was I'onsonby who drew first blood, Canyliick, Jamieson and K. Hook combining in a movement ■ which ended in a try by Hook. Berridge missed. The blacks went hard In the second quarter and got I'onsonby penned in. From a scrum a few yards out they hooked, and Goldlng, the rover, went over for a try. Wntene missed an easy kick.
