HAURAKI PLAINS COUNTY.
The Hauraki , Plains County Council passed a resolution empowering the adding of a 10 per cent penalty on unpaid rates as from February 20. Mr. C. W. Parfitt gave notice of intention to levy a rate of in the £ over the special rating area formed to cover the cost of installation of the Hauraki Plains West water supply scheme. Such a rate would provide a fund of £3750, which would leave a safe margin of security in meeting the cost of the scheme.
Special orders fixing the motor limit at 35 miles an hour were confirmed.
The clerk reported that seven abjections had been received to inclusion in the proposed Nethei'ton wliter supply loan area.
Reporting on the attitude of Patetonga settlers to a comprehensive loading and metalling-scheme for that riding of the county, Mr. Mayn said the settlers now favoured the original scheme of works, in order that no further delay might be occasioned in providing the long-deferred roading works.
It was resolved to apply for a subsidy for the cost of roading the Awaiti settlement.
