U.S.A. PEACE TREATY.
Britain Hopes For Successful
Conclusion.
CONSIDERATION CONTINUES
(British Official Wireless.) (Received 12 noon.) RUGBY, July 11. The reply to the United States proposal for a multilateral treaty for the renunciation of war was the subject of further questions in the House of Commons to-day.
Sir Austen Chamberlain said he confidently expected to be able to send the reply of His Majesty's Government in Britain before the end of the present Parliamentary session. Communication with His Majesty's Governments in the Dominions and India was proceeding, but he emphasised that those Governments had no responsibility for any delay which had occurred. He added that he wished to bring the project to a successful conclusion and the cause of delay was the consideration which the Government found it necessary to give to the important proposal.
