Essex v. Somerset.—Essex, first innings 272 (O'Connor 101, Russell 67). White took five wickets for 85. Second innings, 150 (L. Eastman 71). Somerset, first innings 369 (M.Lyon Hunt 87). O'Connor took five wickets for 70. Second innings, 54 for one wicket. Somerset won by nine wickets. Derbyshire v. Kent.—Derbyshire, first innings, 214 (Storer, 113). Freeman took six wickets for 71. Second innings 234 (Lee 100). Ashdown four wickets for 30, Freeman six for 125. Kent, first innings 159 (Evans 52). Worthington eight wickets for 41. Second innings, 290 for four wickets (Hardinge 152 not out, Evans 55). Kent won by six wickets.

Yorkshire v. Surrey.—Yorkshire, first innings 406 (Mitchell 73, Leyland 139). Fender six wickets for 116. Second innings 121 for one wicket (Sutcliffe 71 not out). Surrey, first innings 458 (Sandham 66, Fender 177, Jardine 157). Macaulay five wickets for 104. Surrey won on the first innings. Sussex v. Glamorgan.—Sussex, first innings 347 (J. Parks 53, Cook 66, Werasley 140). Ryan five wickets for 129. Second innings. 115 for six wickets (Langridge 56 not out). Glamorgan, first innings 75. Tate seven wickets for 24. Glamorgan followed on, and made 386 (Bates 54, D. Da vies 126 not out). Langridge four wickets for 68. Sussex won by four wickets.

Hampshire v. Lancashire.—Hampshire, first innings 138. R. Tyldesley six wickets for 41. .Second innings, 378 (Kennedy 128, Harfield 63, Boyes 68. Mead 63). Lancashire, first innings 363 (E. Tyldesley 115, Iddon 62, Green 52. Hopwood 50). Newman eight wickets for 131. Second innings, 155 for three wickets (E. Tyldesley 80 not out). Lancashire won by seven wickets.

Notts v. West Indies.—Notts, first innings 393 (Whysall 80, Carr' 100, A. Staples 84 not out). Second innings 246 for six wickets declared (George Gunn 55). West Indies, first innings 378 (Bartlett 109, Hoad 73, Nunes 62). Sam Staples five wickets for 09. Second innings, 85 for no wickets (Cons tan tine 67 not out). The match was drawn.

Batting for Northamptonshire against Gloucester, Bellamy compiled 65 and 100, Woolley 108, and Brown 56. For Gloucester, Hammond made 62 and Mills 53 not out. Sinfield five, wickets for 56. Gloucester won.
