OLD RESIDENTS' SOCIAL.
OLD TIME DANCE AT OTAHUHU.
The fourth reunion of the Otahuhu old residents took place last evening, in the form of a social evening in the public hall. The Mayor (Mr. R. B. Todd), addressed those present and said that the object of the gathering was to bring together the old residents of the borough and to enjoy themselves by dancing all old dances and the singing of old songs. The hall was tastefully decorated, and amongst those present was Otahuhu's oldest resident, Mr. James Murphy. Mrs. F. Andrews' orchestra provided excellent music and accompaniments were rendered by Mr. J. Douglas with the accordeon. A feature of the evening s enjoyment was the dancing competitions, of which Mr. Frank Burns was referee. The polka competition was won by the Mayor, Mr. R. B. Todd, and the mazurka by Mr. J. Gillies. An amusing item was the "leap year excuse me" waltz, which was controlled by four lady M.C'.'s. Musical items were rendered by Miss Moffatt, who sang "Old Mate" and "Mother Machree"; Miss Lamb, "For the Green" and "The Lilac Tree"; Mr. W. Dixon, "The Gay Highway" and "Sally Horner." J It is intended to hold another similar function shortly, to be followed by the annual ball, which will be of a more pretentious nature.
