THE WINTER SHOW.
That interesting blend of amusement and instruction —a circus combined with a technical school, as it were —the Auckland Winter Show, opens to-morrow, and will no doubt he well patronised. This exhibition, which has become an institution, has done a great deal to educate both city man and farmer in the primary and secondary production and productiveness of New Zealand. It is becoming a provincial affair, where all classes and districts meet and note what has been and might be done. The farmer is kept in touch with the latest improvements, and the town dweller is made to realise what he owes to the farmer. There is proof for both in the "still life" and machinery stands of the progress made by our secondary industries. This year's exhibition will be held in the promise of better times, and the gathering together of so many samples of activity and so many people of all callings should stimulate business and strengthen a long-convalescing confidence.
