MOTOR CYCLE SLIPS.
GIKL PASSEXGKR THROWN" OFF
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) OPOTIKI, this day. A motor cyclist on Saturday evening endeavoured to pass a long line of cars returning from Matata towards Whakatane, after the playing of a representative football match. While trying to pass one of the leading cars on a slight bend, the machine lurched on the loose surface, and a girl pillion-passenger was thrown heavily on the road. The machine wobbled on for a considerable distance and finally crashed on the grass at the side of the road. Its rider escaped uninjured. The girl was not so fortunate for she received extensive injuries and was taken to Whakatane for medical attention.
