MANUREWA QUEEN CARNIVAL.
A queen carnival, which is being organised by members ot the local Catholic Church, commenced with a social and datoce held in the public hall at Manurewa. A large and representative attendnce ensured a successful 6tart for the Town Queen, in whose support the function was organised. The hall was tastefully decorated in a colour scheme of purple and gold. Kendell's Orchestra supplied excellent music, while popular extras were contributed by Miss M. Darby. Mr. R. Frost capably attended to the duties of M.C. A nunnber of musical and elocutionary items contributed to the pleasures of the evening, the following artiste assisting:—Songs: Misses Gladys Osborne, M. Gleeson; character dancing: Miss Diana Lodge; monologue: Miss Valma Wood. The accompaniste wa« Madame Aileen Frost, who was congratulated on -her efforts in organising such a successful entertainment. A number of competitions were keenly contested, the winners being Mrs. C. Dunham, Mrs. Patchan and Miss M. Duffy.
