WORLD'S GOLD PRODUCTION.
Returns are available ■which indicate the gold production of the world last year, as regards the most important producers. It is impossible to get complete returns for all the countries, but if the periods necessary to complete the full arc estimated a fairly close approximation 16 possible. The figures show that owing to the fresh record established by the Transvaal the British Empire once more had a. very substantial improvement m the output of the precious metal. On the other hand, the United States, like West Australia, continues to drop. Canada appears to have done considerably better, and has added some 0.i.000 fine 07.: to her precious record, and is alreadv wrthm measurable distance of the United tstates.
