OPINIONS IN AUCKLAND. CRITICISM OF THE SCHEME. LLNE THAT WILL Js'OT PAY. There ia in Auckland to-day s pronounced reaction against the decision of tlio Government 'o make a start immediately with the extension of the railway from Kotorua to Taupo, as reported by telegram published in another column. Of the many representntive men who were interviewed by the "Auckland Star" not one is prepared to Rivo unqualified support to the scheme. Opiniqns have been canvassed over ii wide area and special attention hag Wen paid to the viewe of leaders of movements which are concerned with t.ho development of the Dominion by means of railway construction and land settlement.
