SOCCER FOOTBALL.

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE.

REP. GAMES IN PROSPECT

CUP TIE FIXTURES. Wli' irn-t rnme time ago it appeared as though Auckland Soccer this year -would be a barren one so iar as rep. fixtures were concerned, it was stated at last night's n:ecting of the Management Committee of the A.F.A., that there was a probability of challenges from Otago and Wellington for the English Trophy. At the present moment the New Zealand Council has given no decision as to whether Canterbury or Auckland are holder- of the Dominion premiership, but the information from south seems to point, to a confirmation of local opinion that on the goal average of last reason'* game?, Auckland has retained the prize. The management decided to endorse the suggestion of the New Zealand Council that the competition be now a challenge one under Brown Shield rules It was stated that the New Zealand Council had instructed that entries for the Chatham Cup could not be reopened consequent on the withdrawal of Thistle. This leaves three teams entered for the national club championship. It was decided that the draw made stand, the teams enminir out of the hat as follows Y.M.C'.A. v. Belmont, Ponsonby v. Thistle. It wa» decided to play the first round of the Chatham Cup. Y.M.C.A. v. Belmont on Blandford Park on July 7, to be preceded by a junior game. Manurewa Club notified- change of venue of their ground and advised that clubs book by train to Manurewa iugtead of Homai as formerly. The club also entered for the Falcon Cup. It was decided to postpone the playing of midget games till August, owing to the heavy nature of the ground at Blandford Park. A lensrthy report was submitted by Mr. F. C. Jacobs, including an estimate of the cost of installing a hot water system at Blandford Park. Mr. Jacobs supplemented the report by outlining a scheme whereby the system could he self-supporting or nearly so. Mr. Jacobs was thanked for the trouble he had taken in the matter, which was referred to the Finance Committee. North Shore suggested that in view of the standard of play lately in the 1.30 game at Blandford Park, an experiment be made with junior teams as a curtain-raiser. The suggestion wa» noted. The management passed a resolution that in its opinion any player of any club which had resigned from the association was at liberty to register with »ny other club under the jurisdiction of the association. It was decided to request the opinion of the New Zealand Council as to the elcjribiTity of a player suspended prior to the resignation of a flub.
