WELLINGTON CITY SEATS.
SIR JOHN LUKE'S POSITION,
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. It has been stated outside Wellington that there is colour for the belief that Sir John Luke, the present member for Wellington North, whose electorate was largely affected by the changes made by the Boundaries Commission last year, will not be a candidate at the coming general election, and that he will be appointed to the Legislative Council. Sir John declared definitely some weeks ago that he would contest his seat.
The two other Wellington city seats held by Reform, Wellington Suburbs and Wellington East, will be contested on behalf of the Reform party by the sitting members, the Hon. R. A. Wright and Mr. T. Forsyth respectively. No Reform selection for Hutt lias yet been made.
