DAMAGED BY STORM.
OLD STEAMER LEAKING. Another victim of the recent gale is the small wooden steamer Chelmsford, owned by the Northern Co., which has been lying at anchor in Shoal Bay for the last six years. Apparently the strain caused by the heavy Seas proved too much for her, and yesterday afternoon she was reported to be sinking. As she was moored in shallow water, there was no diflVulty in beaching her, and this morning the company's steamer Daphne was dispatched with a salvage to pump her out. The Chelmsford was built in Sydney in 1886, and has belonged to the Northern Co. since 1894. She is a vessel of 122 tons.
