A COMMERCIAL TOUR.
INSPECTING NORTH ISLAND.
LOCAL CHAMBER'S ACTIVITIES.
The Auckland Chamber of Commerce with the co-operation of the Railway Department and the Department of Industries and Commerce is planning the running of an excursion train in the late spring in order to enable members of the chamber to study at first hand the resources and potentialities of the northern half of the North Island. Several conversations have taken place between representatives of the Departments concerned and of the chambcr, and sn itinerary has been drawn up for the tour.
It is proposed to leave Auckland on October 26 and to visit Hamilton, Rotorua, Arapuni, Whakatane, Tauranga, Thames, Morrinsville, National Park, Taumarunui, Kirikopuni, Dargaville, Whangarei, Russell, Opua and Purewa, as well as many intervening places. Government officers will travel on the train in order to lecture to members on the farming resources and possibilities of the country traversed and on points of interest from the scenic, engineering and historical points of view. The passengers will spend their nights on the train and full provision is made for sleeping accommodation, for entertainment and for business facilities. The estimated cost per passenger will probably be £10. The party will be limited to 60 members of the chamber.
