LEASE OF SECTIONS.

AMENDED CONDITIONS. MEETING OF HARBOUR BOARD. Amended building restrictions in connection with the leasing of sections on the old dock site in Quay Street were adopted at yesterday's meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board, presided ovei by Mr. M. H. Wynyard.

Lessees will be required to complete the erection of buildings upon the property within ten years. In addition to this it is stipulated that the buildings shall, unless otherwise agreed by the board, be of not less than four storeys, in height—ss feet —and must be of fireproof construction throughout. Designs, plans and specifications have also to be approved by the board, which aims to have the buildings, particularly those facing Quay Street, harmonise as much as possible.

In connection with the new railway station, it was decided that the contractors be given temporary permission to drain into Mechanics' Bay storm water sewer. The position is to be reviewed after the expiration of nine months.

An application from the Greenhithe Progress Association to have the local wharf widened to permit it being used for vehicular traffic was referred to tfle works committee for' consideration.

The district engineer of the New Zealand Railways wrote advising that the Otahuhu Borough Council had declined to allow the discharge of sewage from the new workshops at Otahuhu as suggested by the board, and renewing his previous application to discharge into the Manukau Harbour from septic tanks. The matter was referred to the board in committee, and it was decided to make an inspection on the site next Tuesday.

An offer b'y the Auckland .Harbour Board to pay £25 towards the expense incurred by the board in connection with the use of the fire float on the occasion of the recent fire at Winstone's oil store, was accepted. The Fire Board is considering the question of entering into an arrangement with the board for the use of the at future fires on the waterfront.
