AUCKLAND SEA SCOUTS.

The following are the conditions of the Mills Memorial Cup, donted by some of the original Calliope Sea Scouts:— (a) Competition to be between boats crews (6 and coxswain) of any Auckland Sea Scout company. Crews to be regular troop crewa—not one picked for event. (b) Competition open to any boat's crew registered at headquarters; age, open. (c) The competition to be held whenever another crew cares to challenge the holder. The holders have the option of not competing again until two months after date of winning cup. (d) A competent seafaring man with competent assistants to act as judge. (e) In the event of a tie the judge's decision to be linaL (f) At least 75 per cent of pointß must be obtained by the winning team. Conditions of test are—

1. Discipline-: Marks to be given for .the way orders are carried out, manners, carriage, etc.- v. 10 2. Uniform : Uniformity of boat's crew, badges correctly mounted, caps clean, sock correct, paper and pencil carried, silkie and lanyard corectly worn, etc 10 3. Scout Spirit: Knowledge and carrying out of Scout law, good turns, etc 10 4. Knots and splices 10 5. Seamanship: Kules of the road, ships' lights, rigs, compass, lead line, parts of a boat, Bail and anch-or, etc 15 6. Boatwork: Ability to handle ship's boat under oars, coxswain in charge, bring properly alongside, ' _ ,etc 13 I- Signals: Sending and receiving In semaphore, and knowledge of Morse t and international codes 10 s.
