ANOTHER POPULAR PUZZLE.

STORY ENDINGS VERY GOOD. BUT TITLING ENTRIES POOR. Dear Boy* and Girls,— The story-ending competition was done on the whole very well, much good work being submitted; indeed the winning entries could well be classified as excellent. There was much diversity in the solution, the winner, Kathleen Neely, having quite a creditable and neatly woven finish. Sheila Quinn, whilst submitting excellent reading matter and a theme that was all her own, spoilt her chances by making her yarn too incredible. Ronald Sutcliffe, our 0.5.8. short story writer, presented a good yarn which earned him second place. It is a pity that the standard of the stories did not echo in the titling competition, in which the result was very poor. The only one really worthy of special mention was submitted by Betty Molesworth. Although this title is very fitting for the story, it is, perhaps, a wee bit too advanced for juvenile publications. The holidays have just ended, and while fresh memories of those two happy weeks linger, let them be the means of earning you one of the cash prizes offered in Our Competition Corner. In not more tli»i a hundred words describe tho most interesting incident of your holidays. Take special care to keep """ your entry wiihin the covering hundred words, for this rule will be strictly adhered to.
