LADIES' BENEVOLENT SOCIETY
ANNUAL MEETING AT ONEHUNGA The sixty-fifth annual maeting of the Onehunga Ladies' Benevolent Society was held last evening in the Presbyterian Hall, the Mayor (Mr. W. C. Coldicutt) presiding. Among those present were: Mrs. Isabella Hutchison, who has been a member of the society since its inception, and was the first white child born at Onehunga, and Mr. W. J. Jordan, M.P. The treasurer, Miss Robb, presented the balance-sheet, which showed credit from Canadine bequest, ' £245 3/10; subscriptions and donations, £20 2/; by interest, £10 6/1; balance in bank, 31/3/27, £15 5/4; balance in Treasurer's hands. 31/3/27, £1 3/5; total, £292 0/8. Expended in relief, £159 10/6; Miss Vickery's share of Canadine bequest, £78; balance in Building Society account, £27 3/10; balance in Savings Bank, £26 12/3; cash in hand, 14/1; total, £292 0/8. The assets of the society consist of shares in the Onehunga Building Society, worth £60. There is also to the credit of the society from the estate of the late Mr. J. Canadine the sum of £3739 10', bearing interest at 6% per cent. All the officers were re-elected as follow: President, Mrs. M. Logan; vice-presidents, Mesdames W. C. Coldicutt (Mayoress), J. E. Cowell, and D. D. Scott; secretary, Mrs. A. M. Parker; treasurer, Miss Robb; with a committee of 24 members; auditor, Mr. E. J. Gatland. A cordial vote of thanks was passed to the officials, the auditor, and to the local doctor® for their gratuitous services to the poor.
