GOING TO ADELAIDE.

VICAR or ST. THOMAS'.

CALLED TO LARGER SPHERE.

The Rev. H. N. Drummond, vicar of St. Thomus' parish, Freeman's Bay, will leave next month for Adelaide, South Australia, having accepted the living of Enfield Parish Church. The Church of England conducts two churches and a mission hall in the district in which Mr. Drummond will work.

Early in 1923, Mr. Drummond was appointed vicar of St. Thomas', having completed a substantial term of service with the Melanesian Mission. Recently Mr. Drummond visited the Old Land, and during an extended stay in London he assisted his brother, who is vicar of a well-known West End Church. Two attractive offers were made to Mr. Drummond by the Bishop of -Adelaide, one being the position of percentor at the Cathedral, but both were dec-lined. When a third invitation was given, Mr. Drummond reluctantly accepted, for fcruily reasons.

During his term at St. Thomas' Mr. Drummond has endeared himself not only to regular worshippers but to a much larger, circle of people in the poor and congested parish. Like the late Rev. Marsden Du Rieu, one of the first vicars of the parish. Mr. Drummond has been a great friend of the poor, working ouietly and persistently without any limelight. The parish has never b:«cn able to support a marred virar, and. like all his predecessors. Mr. Drummond has been content to live In a very humble way.

Last year the Church of St. Thorn**, which for nearlv half a cettturv has been an outpost of the Aw»'o- r, qtholi« movement, celebrated its jubilee. A farewell social is to be h»ld, when the wellloved vicar w'tl be the r""'pient of a nresentation from mrishioner* and church workers. Mr. succassor has not been selected.
