UNEMPLOYED SOLDIERS.

3.50 WANT WORK.

EVIDENCE OF DEPRESSION.

Tangible evidence of the general depression in industry in Auckland at the present time is to be had at the office of the Auckland Returned Soldiers' Association, where ex-servicemen representing all manner of occupations are registered as being unemployed.

Since the Poppy Day funds aggregating £1100 have been available for distribution for the relief of unemployment amongst returned men, 350 applicants for work have found their way to the association. Forty-five separate industries or calling are represented in the latter figure. Labourers predominate, but included amongst those seeking engagements are tobacconists, hair-' dressers, warehousemen, wool classers, welders, boilermakers, blacksmiths, cooks, engineers, engincdrivers, and farm hands.
