To settle a controversy between correspondents of a British motor journal on the question of "How Far will a Car Go on an Expenditure of £5 for Running Expense*," the Royal Automobile Club was recently called on to officially observe a test of a Saloon Model Rover Car, carrying a full complement of four passengers and their luggage. Starting from London on February 20, 1928, the route covered was practically a circuit of England and Scotland, the total distance run before the £5 was expended being 2147 miles, equal to an average of 34 miles per gallon.
