MEMORIAL ROTUNDA.

DARGAVILLE REMEMBERS THE FALLEN. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") DARGAVILLE, this day. The unveiling of the soldiers' war memorial band rotunda on the foreshore took place this afternoon, Mrs. Coates, wife of the Prime Minister, performing the ceremony. The North Auckland regimental band marched along Victoria Street to the grounds, where a short selection was played. The appearance of the Prime Minister was greeted with a round of handclapping, and Mrs. Coates was presented with a bouquet. The Mayor of Dargaville, Mr. F. A. Jones, made a short speech, in which he paid tribute to the memory of those who gave their lives in the Great War. The Prime Minister • delivered an appropriate address, and Mrs. Coates then unveiled the memorial.. The last post . was sounded by Bandsman H. Walker, and the president of the band,' Mr. R. H. Dunn, said a few words regarding the rotunda and late, members of the band who had made the supreme sacrifice. The band then ascended the rotunda and played several selections, proceedings terminating with the National Anthem. In response to the Mayor's request business places, which usually remain open on Wednesday afternoon, closed for a couple of hours so that their employees might attend the ceremony.
