"LAZY STICK" PULL.

CONTESTS IN TARAVAKT (By Telegraph—Press Association.) ELTHAM, this day. A "lazy stick" pull between two Taranaki champions, O. Geinhoefer, of Eltham, and W. McCook, of Manaia, was held in the Town Hall last night and was won by McCook, who won the first two pulls. There was great interest in the match, the hall being crowded. A tug-of-war contest, among thirteen teams, was won by Imperial (New Plymouth) which was undefeated during the evening. Rauehitiroa was second. A novel contrivance by which red and white lights indicated the progress of the pulls enhanced the interest of the contests. "TILLY IN THE CITY." "Tilly in the City" will be produced at His Majesty's Theatre for five nights, commencing on Tuesday next, and promises to be a worthy successor to "The Bolshy," "Bill Stony," 'The Bulgarian Bug," "Tilly of Tamaki," '"Size Three," "Crooks, Limited," and other student successes. Miss Turner has arranged an excellent ballet, and has also trained a student ballet, which includes most of the performers in last year's "Traffic Ballet." Messrs. Fenwick and Plummer have prepared an entirely new specialty dance, while the work of Miss Beryl Nettleton and Messrs. Trevarthen, Hart, Hutton, Lowe, and the supporters is sure to reach a high standard. The "book" includes some very attractive solos, and some excellent numbers for the chorus, and there is the inevitable succession of humorous songs and dialogues based on topical events.
