The transport question was discussed at length last night by the Onehnnga ~ Borough CounciL Mr. F. S. Morton . brought forward a resolution, which he said had been adopted by a meeting of ratepayers, and he moved its by the council: "That this mating of electors of the borough of OnehtoKa requests the Onehunga Borough to instruct its representative en the Transport Inquiry Commission to oppose any move that will require Onehunga to accept any liability so far as taking over the City Council's buses or tnw is concerned; and, further, that tkk meeting is of the opinion that the sohition of Onehunga's transport problem is rapid transit and cheap fares; aim that, in the event of a metropolitan transport hoard being the whole of the service should be free to - everybody, and that a rate be struck over the whole of the metropolitan ana to pay for the service."

Mr. J. Carlton seconded.

The council generally were in agreement with the first put of tte resolution, but thought the'question of free rides for everybody too Utopian. Mr. T. Moor, as an amendment, moved that the latter part of Um resolution be deleted, and with this alteration Mr. Morton's motion was adopted.
