PREPARING FOR TE RAPA.

TRACK WORK AT ELLERSLIE.

PRINCESS RONNIE GALLOPS .WELL.

With only four days to go before the Waikato Racing Club's meeting opens at Te Rapa it migbt be expected there would be plenty of interesting galloping at Ellerslie, However, this was not so this morning, most of the horses beinf* allowed to gallop well within themselves. This is not surprising as there has been ample racing lately and all the horses engaged at Te Rapa are well seasoned and ready to race. The weather was showery, but the track, the No. 1 grass, upon which all the fast work was done, was inr fine order. Royal Tea Appears First. The sprinter, Royal Tea, who promises to be one of the favourites for the President's Handicap at Te Rapa, was the first to appear. With a light boy in the saddle the son of Tea Tray jumped off and sprinted half-a-mile in 525. He was never galloping at top and finished comfortably. King Emerald and Gold Money, W. Kemp's pair, chipped a second off Royal Tea's time, registering 51s. Both jumped off together _ with Gold Money on the outside, and finished up their tasks exceptionally well. Respirator was going better than Brampton at the end of five furlongs iu 1.6.

Jolly Money, looking none the worse for his racing at Avondale, stepped half-a-mile 51 4-ss. Showing a lot of speed in the early part Parfait Amour ran five furlongs in 1.7, while Tidal and Hyde Park went a furlong further in 1.19 2-5. Hyde Park, on the outside, appeared to be going best.

The two-year-old Bulolo, sprinted half-a-mile with C. Brown in the Baddle, in 51 l-ss. He was going nicely at the end.

Corinaz Goes Nicely.

Corinax (Ray) and Modest Boy (Ryan) were associated over seven furlongs. They kept well together throughout, the last six taking 1.18 1-5, with Corinax going the stronger at the end.

Scot Free, alone, galloped seven furlongs in 1.34 1-5.

After Breakfast.

Storm Fiend, with L. Pine on top, dashed home from the half-mile post in 51s.

The Storey Memorial candidate, Princess Ronnie, jumped off at the seven furlongs peg, and galloping freely ran the first furlong in 12 3-ss, three in 38 3-ss, and the last half in 50 2-ss, the full journey taking I.29—the best of the morniug.

Blue Spear had a shade the best of Hone Heke when they jumped off to -go six furlongs, but they finished together in 1.21.

The hurdler- Rahepoto was allotted strong work over a circuit, running the last seven furlongs comfortably Jn 1.37 4-5.

Archeno was sprinted three furlongs in 42 l-ss.

Daylight and Lady's Boy were too good for Mountain Guide and beat him several lengths over six furlongs in 1.20.

Fungus and Ossian sprinted half-a-mile in 52 4-ss, with Fungus in front at the end.

Valquette on the inner, was going nicely alongside Winsome Girl, at the finish of a brush over four furlongs run in 525.

Cynthia N., who began slowly at the seven furlongs post, registered 1.20 2-5 for the last six furlongs.

The Jumpers. Beau Cavalier (Stan way) gave a dashing display while negotiating a round of four schooling hurdles. Salamander (Olive) and Royal Trek (Sharkey) gave an improved display over several pony hurdles, both jumping with confidence. c

Lord Bruce (Began) cleared the steeplechase fences on the llat in fine style. Adjuster {Sharkey), Wee Marble (Williams) and Kamehameha (McNeil) were companions in a schooling task over hurdles. Wee Marble and Kamehameha were pulled up after jumping two fences and Adjuster went on by-himself over two more. All jumped well. Later Kamehameha and Wee Marble jumped the sod wall, double and stone wall in the centre of the course, giving a safe display.
