! NEW GLASS COMPANY. I PROSPECTUS ISSUED. Approximately £700,000 was the outstanding sum spent last year 011 glass, which only goes to .show that New Zealand's demand for glass is of importance to the industry. "Smith's Weekly" of June 25, 1927, commented as follows on the success of the Australian Glass Manufacturers Company, Ltd:— "Meanwhile, notwithstanding expansion, which has been remarkable in live years, and which, incidentally, is in its infancy, shareholders have done well. Dividend has been 10 per cent, from the outset, and each share has a market value of 42/. Profits were equal to 17.5 per cent on ordinary capital last year, compared with 16.2, 16.7 and 16.9 per cent back to 1923." Now a new glass manufacturing company has just been formed in Ashburton, and known as the Southern Cross Glass Company of New Zealand, Ltd. Judging by the net profits of the Australian Company, the success of the Ashburton venture should be a foregone conclusion. The former showed a net profit j in 1927 of £179,365. As far as can be ascertained the Southern Cross Glass Co. of N.Z., Ltd., has the additional advantage of being the only sheet glass Works in Australasia. By the prospectus seventy-five thousand £1 shares are now offered to the public .at 5/ on application, and 5/ on allotment. A copy of the prospectus may be obtained by writing the Secretary, Southern Cross Glass Com° pany of N.Z., Ltd., Burnett Street, Ashburton.—(Ad.)
