MARKETING OF EGGS.
PRODV CERS' INTERESTS.
ASSOCIATION FORMED,
The initial meeting of the Auckland Egg Producers' Association was held last evening at the Trades Hall. The association has been formed to improve the position of poultrykeepers, and to this end the committee was asked to report on the advisability of affiliation with the New Zealand Poultry Association. The main object of the association will be to watch the commercial interests of poultrykeepers, both in regard to the marketing of eggs and the purchase of poultry food. An attempt will be made to remove existing anomalies in the laws governing the importation -and price of bran and pollard, and it is also hoped that satisfactory arrangements will be made for the export of surplus eggs.
A draft constitution to this effect was submitted to the meeting by the chairman, Mr. E. O. McLennan, M.P. for Franklin. He said that he was sure that poultrykeepers would be able to improve greatly their present position if they were properly organised. It was felt, he declared, that such a body as was now proposed would result in a greater degree of co-operation than had previously been the case.
The following were appointed to act as a temporary executive committee, with power to elect a temporary president: Messrs. W. G. Lynn, T. H. Evans, R. S. Higginbotham, H. A. J. Edgeley, J. Ingham, F. H. Wells, and A. Selwood.
A substantial membership was enrolled at the conclusion of the meeting.
