MINING NEWS.
I OHINEMURI MINES. ORB ADAPTED FOR CYANIDE TREATMENT. The following telegraphic advice has been received from Mr. J. R. Noble, the company's metallurgist, who is engaged in making a series of teats of ore. from all sections of the company's mine, at the Thames School of Mines experimental plant :— "Successful treatment of your ore by cyanidation appears assured, as latest tests completed show an extraction of over 94 per cent of gold and silver. Am leaving minor details and cost of treatment to be determined by further tests." This information disposes of doubts that have existed as to the amenability of the high grade sulphide ore from this mine to treatment by the cyanide process. New Waiotahi.—Tie mine manager reports that the drive hillward for the Waiotahi-Cambria reef has been advanced 4ft for the week. The country rock continues the same hard grey andesite. The drive towards the Caledonian reef has advanced 6ft for the week. The country rock Is mild and favourable for gold. a '
