BULLDOGS.
AUCKLAND CLUB'S SHOW.
HIGH QUALITY OF DOGS BENCHED
The second annual show of the Auckland Bulldog Club was held on Saturday in the Orange Hall. Newton, Road, in the presence of a large crowd of fanciers of the breed. The well-known English judge, Mr. T. W. Hogarth, who officiated at the New Zealand Alsatian Club's first show last Saturday, wore the red ribbon among the bulldogs. Mr. Hogarth stated that the quality of the dogs benched was surprisingly high, and almost as good as in England.
Nineteen dogs were benched, the imported dog, Bonnie Jock, owned by J. B. Wainscott, winning the open class for dogs.
The best New Zealand-bred dog in open class in the show, was Mrs. A. L. Desgrangele Franco Punch, and was awarded the British Bulldog Club's silver model of a bulldog. E. Yates' Olyn Tatf Judy won the bronze model of a bulldog presented by the same club for the best New Zealand-bred bitch in open class. Bonnie Jock, owned by J. B. Wainscott, was declared winner of the Mauveen Cup for the best dog or bitch in the show, while E.
