EXCURSION TICKETS

AVAIX«ABLE ON EXPRESSES

UP LIMITED THE EXCEPTION.

It is the intention of the Railway Department to remove the restrictions Ivhich have caused irritation to passengers using excursion tickets on express trains, the exception being the up Limited express from Wellington to Auckland.

This information was given by Mr. A. W. Wellstead, commercial agent for the railways, when he remarked that he had found that there had been irritation in connection with restrictions on the use of holiday excursion tickets to and from Frankton during the holiday periods. While the reason for imposing those restrictions was sound, the Department considered, in order to remove the discontent, that, with the exception indicated, passengers holding excursion tickets would now be able to travel between. Auckland, Hamilton and Frankton on all express trains. For obvious reasons, he said, the Department could not allow passengers holding holiday excursion tickets to travel by the up Limited, which at those periods of the year was always a crowded train.
