AUSTRALIAN EGG EXPORT.

From the annual report of the Austrar lian Co-operative Egg and Export Association, forwarded by Mr. J. B. Merritt, one time of Christchurch, the following is extracted:—

"Producers in Australia haive every rciMon to be satisfied with the growth of the export of eggs and the splendid results obtained. Three years ago, when the association started its work, the summer price of eggn was in the region of 1/ per dozen. The general average is now 1/4 per dozen, and it is through export thia splendid result has been obtained. Contrary to the season of 1026, when heavy losses were made through low prices in Great Britain, the season of 1927 has proved a great success. Contract*, were taken m London by the association at 20/ per L.H. The landing charges, delivery in London, commkrion, louses through cracks and bad eggs, had to be deducted from the price. The consignments averaged 21/, so that those who shipped on consignment obtained slightly better results. The losses have been considerable from cracks and faulty eggs, on which allowances have to be made.

"While we have had a good season for consignments, due to the severe winter in the northern hemisphere, we cannot guarantee that successive seasons will give a similar result.
