TARANAKI TROTS.

ANNUAL MEETING TO-MORROW. MANY AUCKLANDERS ENGAGED. With a strong contingent of Auckland horses engaged at the annual meeting of the Taranaki Trotting Club the gathering at New Plymouth to-morrow will create mere than passing interest at this end of the island. Following close .upon the Wanganui and Hawera fixtures, the form of most of the horses is well known, but unfortunately for backers form does not always work out according to the book. Still, the fields are good and the meeting promises to be the best in the history of the club. The Novices. The racing will open with the Novice Handicap, and those accepted for are not a good lot by any means. All but one are on the limit, they are much of a muchness. It is ju?t a question of paying your money and taking your choice. With ordinary luck there should be money for LADY JEWEL MUSICAL Waitara Handicap. Just a dozen trotters have accepted for the Waitara Trot. The limit trio— l Carberly, Octochord and Timbell—have no form to recommend them, but Nelson's Request won on the second day at Wanganui, and even if there might not have been much merit in the performance the chestnut should go well again. Special Bell may be better than Mokanna and Lochade, and Lady Ena, although a long way back, is consistent. The favourite may be NELSON'S REQUEST Urenui Handicap. There will not be a big field in the Urenui Handicap, two miles, and if Hostess is any good at all she should be handy. She went a good race into fourth place on the second day at Wanganui. Ce Advanceur has been racing consistently without winning, and the weak field to-morrow should Buit him. Speed King, though well back in the handicap, may go well, as he can stay the distance. Betting will generally be confined to HOSTESS CE ADVANCEUR Taranaki Cup. The Taranaki Cup (two miles) should provide a good race. Brigand and Kevin Brae are the best of those on the front, and Direct Todd (12yds), if he can go two. milea, would be in the picture. Toll Chimes ran third at the Thames meeting, but should be held safe by Dillon Huon and Tui Wildwood. Gold Dial should be best of the others. The favourites are likely to be TUI WILDWOOD KEVIN BRAE Moturoa Handicap. Thoso in the Moturoa Handicap are not a good lot, and it might be an easy race to win. Indicator has the best form of those on the limit, but Gaza (12yds) may be better. Great Ballin has gone some useful races without winning, and Trustworthy will not be overlooked. Queen Elizabeth will be in demand. Betting may be mostly confined to TRUSTWORTHY GAZA Inglewood Trot. Form earlier in the day may affect the betting on the Inglewood Trot, but it will take something to deprive Call Boy from being made favourite. Real Todd won at Hawera, but is now well back in the handicap. There should be good money for CALL BOY LADY ENA Omata Handicap. j Most of those in the Omata Handicap will have raced in earlier events, and upon the form shown will depend to a great extent the betting on this ™ ▼jew of this it is futile going through the list, but providing SSwHTff penalties mone y wUI HOSTESS hultop T_ ..
