Promising Colts In The Marist Side. Among the scratching* in tlic Marist team this season will be big Jim O'Brien and Jack Ivirwan, two honest "rafters and leading players of the thirteen aside code in Auckland. Their absence from the team will be early noticed, but there is also a possibility of the ranks being further depleted as Lrisbano and Knott are doubtful starters. The quartet mentioned have all assisted to lift the League code to its present high plane, and if thev carry out their present intention, and lock away for all time the guernsey and studded boots, they will do so knowing that their names are writ prominently in the records of
the code in the Dominion. "I think we have done our bit, said Jack Kirwan, "and the aim of the club now is to give the most promising of the julli or s a chance. We are going to cater for the younger players, and there are several offering who look tlie part. I think we will have
a couple of Rugby junior reps, with us this season. Bachelor, who played with the Rugby junior reps, last season, is one, and Nasev, who was with the Parnell juniors, is another. Bachelor is a brother to H. Bachelor, who played for i Hawke's Bay, when the Bay won the Ranfurly Shield from Wellington. We are likely to have a forward from Arapuni also, so I think the prospects are rather good for us iiiis season." Asked if there was no chance of him coming out again Kirwan said he did not think so. However, if the club happened to get right up against it for players he [would not be surprised to tee Jim Q'Briea oa Carlaw Par*- again.V
