KIRIKOPUNI ROAD.
MANGATIPA VIADUCT. (By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) pARGAVILLE, thisjday. The public Works Department,whicJ»; stopped the work of metalling the. &iri-kopuni-Pakotai highway early in March, restarted to-day, employing half lorries. It will concentrate on the com* pletion of the gap of 20 chains,of un- | metalled road on the Kirikopuni side, of "j the Mangatipa Viaduct. The metal is railed from Tauraroa quarry, via Waio-, tira Junction, a distance of seven miles. The steel superstructure of the viaduct, weighing over 500 tons, is being shipped from the Public Works workshops at Tauranga. To .enable the completion lof the viaduct, which will span 200 ft, * gorge in Mangatipa Mountain, and concrete piers, now in course of construction, will carry a steel suprestructure 100 ft above the bottom of the gorge.
