ACCESS FOR ORAKEI.

MEW FORESHORE ROAD. WORK CLOSE TO COMPLETION,

Good progress is being made with the Orakei Garden Suburb access road, the fine weather of the last few weeks being responsible. It is anticipated-that by the end of this month the cjuaKermile section between Hobson Point and Whakatakataka Bay will be linked up with the existing roads on the Orakei Block, thus establishing vehicular access to the eastern suburb. The original scheme provided for the construction of a road to Orakei Point, _ terminating at the sewage station. Legislation effected last session, however, contained provision for its extension to Mission Bay, and al*o for the construction of a lateral road brandling to the right at Hobson Point, skirting the cliffs until it junctions with the streets recently formed in the Mock on the foreshore at Whakatakataka Bay. This latter link is now partially formed, and in about four weeks' time will be wide enough to permit of its being opened to traffic. The formation of the main waterfront road to Mission Bay will not permit of it being opened for probably about twelve months.
