ELECTRIC POWER.
MEETIKO OF AUCKLAND BOARD. NO BRANCH AT ELLERSLIE. The Auckland Electric Power Board met yesterday afternoon, Mr. W. J. Holds worth presiding. A request was made by the Ellerslie Town Board that a branch office be established in its district. The general nianager (Mr. R. H. Bartley) reported that at the present time Ellerslie's requirements were handled through the Otahuhu office, and no difficulty was experienced. The majority of domestic accounts were collected at the door. "I do not think the time is yet opportune to alter this arrangement, particularly as we are finding that with some of the part-time offices already established the amount of business done hardly warrants the visits of our staff," he added. The report was adopted on the understanding that the general manager would keep Ellerslie's requirements in sight. Power Stoppage. It was reported that the cause of the power stoppage last Saturday, which affected the tramways supply, was due to the high tension feeders between King's wharf and Epsom sub-station tripping out. Further trouble was occasioned as the result of overloading. The relays were now operating normally, "but they would be dismantled and thoroughly examined without delay. The opinion was expressed that there should be some agreement with the Tramways Department to ensure that the supply was not overloaded immediately after A breakdown. Mr. Bartley said that the department did its best to get the cars away after a stoppage more or less gradually. I
The chief engineer (Mr. A. O. Glasse) reported upon progress made with various works in hand. He said that during the week ended March 22 the service srangs connected two underground and 63 overhead services and erected 15 poles and 8800 yarcty of cable.
