SOCIAL GATHERINGS. A second performance of the operetta "Princess Chrysanthemum,"- by request, as played by a troupe of Milford children and produced by Mrs. H. M. Scales, was given in the Picturedrome at Milford last night. It was well received. The proceeds are to be divided between the Milford Surf Club and the Takapuna Band. Several items were given by the band during the evening. • • « • The Victoria League Sub-Committee gave a delightful party in the League rooms on Friday evening, in honour of the Misses St. Clair Whyte and Sally Tancred. The chairman, Mrs. L. S. Rickerby, welcomed Miss St. Clair Whyte home after her trip abroad and presented her with a posy of flowers; and also presented Miss Tancred with an attache case as a small token of esteem from the members, and wished her success in her new work. Competitions were won by the Misses Cerrutty, Redstone, Maxfield and Edgecombe. A dainty supper brought an enjoyable evening to a close.

Mrs. Coker gave a delightful afternoon tea on Friday at the Tudor Tearooms, the guest of honour being Dr. Margaret Knight, who leaves for England shortly. WEDDINGS OF THE WEEK. DON—URE. A pretty wedding took place yesterday morning at St. David's Church, when Margaret Eileen, only daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Dc-n, of Mount Eden, became the wife of Mr. Walter Ure, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Ure, of Parnell. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr. A. Don, wore an orchid mauve georgette, the skirt being in two finely accordion pleated tiers. A pale grey crinoline hat was trimmed with velvet ribbon and flowers to tone with the gown. A beautiful shower bouquet was carried, consisting of pale yellow and gold flowers, with satin ribbons. A bridesmaid and a dainty floker girl followed, the former. Miss A. Orr, wearing a pretty gown of larkspur blue georgette, with a deep border of gold and blue lace. Her autumn brown hat had blue flowers to match her gown, and she carried a lovely bouquet of pink chrysanthemums. Dainty Brenda Ure wore a lace frock over pale blue georgette, and a double wreath of small blue flowers for the headdress. The best man was Mr. L. Cre, and the Rev. W. McDonald officiated at the ceremony.

SCOTT—BECKER. A wedding of great local interest took place in St. Mary's Church, Raetihi, the contracting parties being Miss Gladys Ruby Becker, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Becker, of Raetihi, and Mr. Cyril Irdale Scott, son of Mr. and Mrs. fL 'A. Scott, of Raetihi. The ceremony 1 was conducted by the Rev. J. H. Datsoru The bride was given away by her father, and looked very pretty in a white crepe de chine dress, with embroidered veil and orange blossoms. She also carried a beautiful bouquet of white flowers. Miss Irene Becker, sister of the bridfe, attended the bride as bridesmaid, and she wore blue crepe de chine, trimmed with gold lace, and hat to tone. Mr. Len. Brown acted as best man. After the ceremony a reception was held by the bride's parents at the Druids' Hall, when a large number of guests sat down to the wedding breakfast.

McGREGOR—COX. The marriage took place at a-quarter to seven at St. Matthew's Church last evening of Miss Ivy Cox, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Cox, of Herne Bay, to Mr. Leonard Alfred McGregor, second son of Mr. and Mrs. A. McGregor, of Dominion Road, Auckland. The Rev. C. H. Grant Cowen officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a dainty gown of ivory georgette and silver lace. The loose bodice was attached to the skirt, in-let with lace at a low waistline, and on the hip was a sjngle spray of orange blossom. Her beautiful lace veil was kept in place by a coronet of orange blossom, and fell down softly over her shoulders, forming a long train. The bride carried a shower bouquet of white flowers and asparagus fern looped with white satin ribbons. Miss Mavis Holroyd was bridesmaid, and wore a frock of turquoise blue crepe de chine with petalled skirt and in-let with silver lace. She wore a tulle swathing on her head and carried a bouquet to tone. Little Edna Cox, made a dainty little flower girl, wearing a frock of white crepe de chine. A cap of tulle trimmed with flowers was on her head, and ah® carried a shower bouquet of flowers in golden tints. The bridegroom was supported by Mr. Alan. McGregor as beat man. After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. McGregor, Dominion Road, whK& was beautifully ;■ decorated, for the * occasion vim masses of flower* and greenery.
